Just so I'm understanding this correctly, Adaptive Style only allows you to alter your readied Maneuvers, and doesn't restore ones already expended in combat? It basically switches up the maneuvers you've got on hand, changes the ones you've expended and you'd still need to recover expended maneuvers normally? It still has Discipline Focus and Quick To Act which make it cool in combat and AC Bonus, great Reflex and Evasion abilities make it avoid damage like a champ. It still has the greatest flavor of maneuver and stance options. I think Swordsage would be balanced out nicely in comparison to the other classes if you gave it Adaptive Style automatically. (I know this was directed towards LogicNinja and I also Bow to his contributions and breadth of insight, but I'll take a stab at them anyway.) It sounds like a fun world you're creating, enjoy! Maybe replace it with a general Bonus Fighter Feat?
#3.5 WARBLADE MANEUVERS LIST FULL#
Minor suggestion, if you're giving Warblade full access to Fighter feats at the fighter levels, perhaps consider removing Battle Cunning since you can get something better from the Weapon Specialization feats if you choose. I dunno, I just know that I wouldn't choose to play a Warblade if Swordsage was full BAB, but that might just be me. Perhaps remove Diamond Mind from the Swordsage list. Perhaps make the progression every 5 or 6 levels, or make it a x/day ability to temporally enhance your weapon, or make it a Swordsage specific stance that he can take with some speed or AC penalty. What if as a compromise, you gave Swordsage an ability like the Soulknfe's +N Mind Blade? Some mystical enhancement the Swordsage can bestow upon his weapon. Warblade would still a better front line fighter with the HD and the maneuver recovery is way better, but a creative player can make a Swordsage that get's hit less often and still so much cooler to play. The creative flavor of maneuvers and more stances is what these classes are all about. If you're going to give Swordsage full BAB, there really isn't any compelling reason to play Warblade in my opinion. Seems like something a Paladin-type would have access to. Perhaps consider adding the Diamond Mind maneuvers to the Crusader's list? I always felt those maneuvers were for a disciplined class, and defensive focused. And that's not even getting into White Raven-enhanced mass cavalry charges. They can guard each other ridiculously well, and even if you damage one, they can all heal each other while they beat you down.

One benefit of this is that a battle-line of Crusaders becomes fucking scary in mass combat. There's a White Raven stance that grands bonuses against fear how about a feat to improve that stance to Aura of Courage? Why not have a feat that lets paladins store the healing from the 2 hp healed per attack, and use it as Lay on Hands? If there isn't a Stone Power stance that grants you the earth's resilience against poison and disease, there should be there should also be a feat that lets you share the stone's blessings. That way, you've got noviates who can only channel the divine force in fits and spurts of inspiration, but experienced Paladins (who take holy oaths, have additional restrictions, etc.) can go into the prestige class and gain extra divine damage to their Smite.Īnother option is, instead of paladin bonuses, make Crusader feats that simulate them. They're Controllers, not Strikers their job is to always have the chance to do something nasty and day-ruining for any given foe.Īlso, their ability to rock two-handed weapons and not miss the shield due to the Wisdom AC bonus is also handy.įinally, consider having a Paladin prestige class for the crusader. On the other hand, if you're a Desert Wind-specialized swordsage fighting salamanders, you're a bit boned. That is to say, if they can bust out with an Emerald Razor on the guy in plate, then next round move, Sudden Leap into position, and use a Mountain Hammer while in Assassin's Stance, then Counter Charge, they're excellent. Swordsages actually do pretty well with partial BAB, if they can use their maneuvers tactically.
